## The same paragraph at three levels

Original: Alpine glaciers are melting faster than ever, researchers warn. Since 2000 they have lost a third of their ice.

## Grammar at each level

Up to B1, Parloquo only uses the grammar that syllabi set for each level. Each level adds what is listed here. The terms are in the language you are learning.

- **A1:** Präsens, Modalverben, Perfekt der häufigsten Verben, Satzklammer; Konnektoren: und, aber, oder, denn
- **A2:** Perfekt, Präteritum von sein, haben und Modalverben; Nebensätze mit weil, dass, wenn
- **B1:** Präteritum, Konjunktiv II (würde, hätte, wäre), Passiv Präsens, Relativsätze; Konnektoren: obwohl, trotzdem, deshalb
- **B2:** Normal newspaper style; only very long sentences and rare words adapted
- **C1:** Close to the original; only convoluted sentences split up
- **C2:** The original text; pages in other languages are translated

## What Parloquo takes care of in this language

- **Word card.** Parloquo looks up the base form, translation, part of speech and, for verbs, the conjugation with an AI dictionary, together with the meaning in the sentence.
- **Long words.** At A1 and A2 Parloquo splits long compound nouns: “die Regeln für den Verkehr” instead of “die Verkehrsregeln”.

## How it works

1. **Open an article.** Open an article in your browser, in any language. On your phone, copy the text and paste it into the Parloquo app.
2. **Click the Parloquo icon.** The Parloquo icon is at the bottom right of the page. Click it or press Alt+Shift+S, and Parloquo translates the article paragraph by paragraph and adapts it to your level, headings included. Ads, navigation and comments are left out. A second click shows the original again.
3. **Look up words.** Click a paragraph, then a word. The word card shows the base form, translation, tense, person, the conjugation table and the meaning in this sentence.
