## The same paragraph at three levels

Original: Alpine glaciers are melting faster than ever, researchers warn. Since 2000 they have lost a third of their ice.

**A2:** アルプスの氷河は、とても速く**とけて**います。2000年から、氷が3分の1へりました。科学者たちは心配しています。

**B1:** アルプスの氷河はこれまでになく速く**溶けて**いると、研究者たちは警告しています。2000年以降、氷の3分の1が失われました。

**C1:** 研究者らは、アルプスの氷河がかつてない速さで後退していると警鐘を鳴らす。2000年以降、氷の質量の3分の1が**失われた**。

## Grammar at each level

Up to B1, Parloquo only uses the grammar that syllabi set for each level. Each level adds what is listed here. The terms are in the language you are learning.

- **B1:** 普通形を従属節で使う、可能形、受身形（簡単なもの）、〜ので、〜のに、〜ように
- **B2:** Normal newspaper style; only very long sentences and rare words adapted
- **C1:** Close to the original; only convoluted sentences split up
- **C2:** The original text; pages in other languages are translated

## What Parloquo takes care of in this language

- **Word card.** Parloquo looks up the base form, translation, part of speech and, for verbs, the conjugation with an AI dictionary, together with the meaning in the sentence.
- **Polite form and kanji by level.** Every sentence is in the です/ます form. At A1 and A2 Parloquo mostly uses hiragana and katakana and kanji up to JLPT N5 or N4, from B1 kanji up to N3. Less common kanji words get their reading in hiragana the first time.

## How it works

1. **Open an article.** Open an article in your browser, in any language. On your phone, copy the text and paste it into the Parloquo app.
2. **Click the Parloquo icon.** The Parloquo icon is at the bottom right of the page. Click it or press Alt+Shift+S, and Parloquo translates the article paragraph by paragraph and adapts it to your level, headings included. Ads, navigation and comments are left out. A second click shows the original again.
3. **Look up words.** Click a paragraph, then a word. The word card shows the base form, translation, tense, person, the conjugation table and the meaning in this sentence.
